Which car insurance companies are not on comparison sites?

We thought we would help highlight to potential uk car insurance customers the insurance companies and car insurers not on price comparison sites. These insurance providers will prove useful for people seeking cover in most areas such as car insurance, home insurance, van insurance, travel insurance, life insurance, health insurance plus many more policies.

In order to give you the best opportunity to save money (possibly £100′s) we recommend that you get a quote from the following two insurance companies in addition to using price comparison sites.

car insurers not on comparison sites

aviva car insurance

Going direct could save you money because Aviva and Direct Line tend to offer extended discounts to customers who use their sites as opposed to going through comparison sites. There is also concern about comparison sites possibly pushing those insurers who pay them higher commission for referrals as opposed to listing those insurance companies who are the cheapest and offer the best deals, you can read more about this here. Try getting a quote off Aviva or Direct Line now and see what the price difference is compared to comparison sites.
(Don’t forget to let us know the outcome by posting a comment at the bottom of this page!)

We do realise that it is still important to use comparison sites in addition to Aviva and Direct Line and if your up for the task to even go on to many of the other insurance company sites independently which is why we have provided a list of insurance companies who feature on comparison sites below.

Comparison sites

compare comparison sites
We will now go on to list the comparison sites out there and then the massive list of insurers who advertise through them.

Rather than listing all the insurance companies advertising under each comparison site separately and thus repeating their names several times, we thought we would just provide one large list of insurance companies providing insurance in many areas not just car insurance, some of which advertise on all the comparison sites mentioned above and others that advertise on just one or two. It should be noted that some actual advertisers are not car insurance providers but instead are brokers so to avoid confusion we have labelled these in brackets. So here they all are in alphabetical order:

Car insurers & other insurance companies on comparison sites

So there you have it, it’s frightening to see there are just two car insurance companies are not on comparison sites. We would prefer to see a much larger selection of independent policy providers but unfortunately the trend is in favour of the price comparison sites now. Nevertheless it is worth comparing the quotes you receive from the comparison sites to those you get independently from companies such as Aviva or Direct Line. You may be able to save yourself even more money by opting against a provider from a comparison site.

Let us know how you get on by posting a comment below on whether those companies not on comparison sites proved cheaper for you.

Both Aviva and direct line quotes much more than my renewal, however in the small print I notice they had added that the car was to be fitted with a tracker and for me to do pass plus?
I’ve got 10years no bloody clams?
All insurance companies are rob you blind.

    • Insured says:

Well theres space for both comparison sites and direct insurers in the uk, I don’t think either always offers a better deal, sometimes the direct insurer will and other times one of the many insurers on the price comparison sites will, it’s always worth checking out both. Thanks for your feedback.

  2. Anna says:

Nobody should just pay their insurance renewal. Get some online quotes from comparison sites and then Aviva/Direct Line…it takes no more than an hour of your time and I saved £70 on my car insurance. Thank you very much that is a very nice meal out for me and my friends….then again I did see a very nice pair of boots……

  3. Buffystar2 says:

I found Aviva to be £1200 more expensive than my cheapest quote on confused.com! Direct Line wasn’t much better either! What surprised me most is that i actually got a cheaper quote on the comparison sites than to go to the companys direct which is odd!

  4. Charlotte Hetherington says:

Hey there I just got a quote from Aviva and they beat the offer I got off Confused.com through One Call by around £70. Thanks a bunch for recommending them for my car insurance.

  5. Alice says:

Checking reviews on the service you get can be life saving!

Just got cancer & 7 days car less, with no progress with One Call Direct

Carless with careless 1Call Insurance : onecalldirect

1 Call only provide a courtesy car after they have decided how bad the cars damage is.

How long they take to do that is awful.

It’s been 7 days so far and today their computer does not show any progress and said they do not care one way or the other, that it is taking this long.

They will not pay for a hire car and any costs will be ours, if the car is not a right-off. It is our gamble and we are trying to save all we can for her cancer care.

My mother-in-law is trapped at home, just when she should be living her life to the full. And with no local relatives, she will need to take several buses to get to a Cancer treatment on Monday.

The call center lady ‘Lucy’ was officious and nice, but did not show any feelings, as did her line manager. When she phoned him.

There are no decision makers or senior staff at the call center, as it is the weekend. Bad when insurance is paid for 7 days a week!

The policy of leaving customers carless while they mess around making decisions is bad, but their response when it drags on is deplorable. Especially in such circumstances.

Consider those that offer to be with you in 30 mins, before one that leaves you with nothing for a week.

  6. Ian Dryer says:

Hi I am wondering which site you think is the cheapest out of Direct Line and Aviva? Also will they always beat comparison sites for a car insurance quote? Cheers

    • Insured says:

Hi Ian, there’s no guarantee that either insurer will beat those quotes on comparison sites although the feedback I have had through the site does seem to be in the favour of Direct Line and Aviva. Some of the visitors that have contacted me have said they have saved a fair bit when compared to quotes on comparison sites. The biggest yet has been £460 for the year which is a decent saving by anyone’s standard. Hope this helps.

  7. Sarah Brooming says:

Hi I have read your article yesterday and I’d like to say a big thank you as I got a car insurance quote from Direct Line that ended up being around £120 cheaper than confused.com, moneysupermarket.com and comparethemarket.com offerings. Thanks again I am really happy I found your site before taking out insurance.

  8. Young Driver says:

Incredible – I had no idea there were so many!

  9. Sarah Coles says:

Thanks a lot for sharing this list of reputed car insurance providers. gives a lot of help in figuring out which to choose and which not to.

  10. PI INSURANCE says:

I’ve looked at comparison sites in the past and thought it was always better to use a broker.

  11. Martin Slade says:

Thank you so much. I’d feared the worst after my current insurer doubled their renewal premium and ALL quotes using price comparison websites also showed a massive increase for this year despite – as always – no claims being made. Then I read on your site that DirectLine don’t use price comparison websites.

Their quote has proved to be very close to last year’s and a saving of over £200 a year against all other quotes I had received.

    I’m extremely grateful!
    Martin Slade.

    • Insured says:

      Hello Martin,

You are welcome. It took me a long time to go through all the comparison sites and compile a list of which insurance companies use them. It took me much less time to create a list of those not advertising on them, there’s only a select few at the moment.

  12. Harold Ian says:

Some of the car insurers have specifically asked the site comparison sites not to include them
